Ron Selka was appointed principal clarinetist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 2001. He is a prizewinner in both the Coleman and Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions in the USA (1994). He has collaborated with artists such as Gil Shaham, Maxim Vengerov, Julian Rachlin and Mischa Maisky, Mira Zakai, Aviram Reichert and the Carmel quartet. His festival appearances include the Israel Festival, Kfar Blum and Pro Festival (Germany).
As a soloist, he has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta as well as with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Opera Orchestra and the IDF Chamber Orchestra. He has appeared in recitals and chamber music concerts in Europe, the USA South Korea and Israel.
He has recorded for Radio and Television Stations in Israel, Europe and the USA. His performance of the Mozart clarinet concerto is frequently broadcasted on MEZZO channel.
He has given masterclasses at Indiana University, Bloomington, Seoul National University, Buenos Aires etc.Between the years 1994-2001 he was a member of the Israel Opera Orchestra and since 2014 he is guest principal clarinetist of the Korean Broadcasting Orchestra.
Born in Israel, he studied with Mr. Eli Heifetz and Mr. Richard Lesser. He earned his B.M. and M.M. at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he studied with Eli Eban and James Campbell and won the Woodwind Concerto Competition (1994). Ron Selka is a Buffet-Crampon Artist.
